About

The Souhegan Valley Sabers are a junior high school football team competing in the Northeast Junior High Football League. Players taking part in the SV Sabers program and competing in the NJHFL will gain an excellent football experience that will help in their future transition into high school programs.

In 2001 the Sabers were founded as an independent organization to better meet the need of older (and heavier) football players in the area.  In 2010 the Amherst Patriots and Souhegan Valley Sabers voted to merge the two organizations in to one.

At this level, there are no weight restrictions and players are selected for either the Varsity or Junior Varsity level. Varsity players are made up of primarily 7th and 8th graders and playtime is based on the best available players for game day, while Junior Varsity players are primarily made up of 6th and 7th graders and play to gain experience.
