Sabers Fall Short in 2011 D1 Conference Championship
The SV Sabers Junior High Football team lost a tough one to the Andover Warriors last Saturday in Andover, MA. Trailing 22-8, the Sabers fought back to a 22-16 margin into the 4th quarter, but Andover was able to put the game away with a late score winning 28-16. Andover will play Rochester, NH, winner of the Seacoast Jr. High Conference Saturday at Portsmouth, NH for the Super Bowl.
This marks the 7th Championship appearance by the SV Sabers in 10 years, winning titles in 2001, 2004, 2005, and 2006. The SV Sabers JV won 26-14 completing their undefeated season at 9-0. The Souhegan Valley Sabers are comprised of players (grades 6th – 8th) from Amherst, Brookline, Hollis, Milford, Mount Vernon, and Wilton.
